Denise Comeau's watercolors beautifully capture the landscapes and architecture of Baie Sainte-Marie.

At first glance, her imagery appears traditional, conveying a strong sense of belonging to a specific territory, community, and culture. However, her minimalist approach and departure from strict realism suggest a looser, more abstract style.

Comeau's works explore the expressive potential of abstract painting, allowing her to examine various aspects of her culture. This technique enables her to reflect personally on the tensions experienced both individually and collectively as Acadie navigates a rapidly changing society.

FEATURED WORK

20% 0FF . LIMITED TIME ONLY

This is a new technique for me. I've combined watercolor and oil pastels. I love it. The colors are so intense. This is one of my favorite pieces, I hope it finds a good home.

This is an original mixed media, oil pastels and watercolor, painted on archival paper.

It measures 12 x 9 inches without the mat and frame. With a 3 inch mat it would finish at 18 x 16.

It ships unframed.
